Hillsborough Justice Campaign – “The Truth”

The 12th September 2012 will no doubt be an emotional day. Families and friends of those 96 victims, who never made it home that day, will hopefully receive the information they’ve dedicated the last 23 years of their lives fighting for.

A few weeks ago I visited families and friends who’d lost loved ones to the disaster and I promised a video, a video to give the innocent people a voice. So here you have it, a video rightfully titled ‘The Truth’, because that’s what it is.

Excellent video Joey, the truth WILL prevail for the great fans of Liverpool FC, some of the best in the world in my opinion and they will get the justice they deserve

They will never walk alone as long as people keep up the fight.

Not by any means a fan of yours Joey, but if I have learnt one thing recently, it is don't believe everything you read. Better late than never. If you have got 5 minutes read this, you will appreciate a blog post by a guy who was there on the day.

Such a powerful read. It made me stop in my tracks, educate myself about this disgusting event in our history and, well, understand it all I guess. I did what many did and believed what I read over the years, shamefully.  Hence Im gonna make my own mind up about alot of things Ive believed over the years. So Im here, on your blog.

As you say, The Truth. Its not about football, its a human thing.  http://shinysean.blogspot.co.uk/2012/09/the-truth.html

Hi Joey, I'm from Singapore and i have followed the Hillsborough disaster ever since i became a Liverpool fan 16years ago. If there was one player i would like at LFC based on pure passion alone, you would be the first on my list. You may have your flaws, but you are a compassionate human being and you deserve recognition for what you have done. people only judge you based on your bad actions but i hope when they see what you have done here, they do realise you have a good side too. Well done Joey, you are a good man:)

Thanks for this video Joe. You took time out when you were busy to record people's experiences and the truth of that day 23 years ago. You made your visit to the HJC a priority in the same way that  you made tweeting the e-petition a priority last year. You have given that most valuable commodity - time. If only the authorities had listened and acknowledged the truth 23 years ago. The Disaster is a sad fact of life, even though it was avoidable. everything that happened after it - for 23 years- was completely unnecessary and has compounded the suffering of families and survivors. This is unforgivable. Let's hope tomorrow is the first day of resolution.

Definately long overdue its time the south yorkshire police, the government and the papers admit the mistakes they made surrounding the whole disaster and take responsibility for their actions. Great piece of coverage keep up the good work mate all the best in france fella stick in keep ya head down and prove all the doubters wrong!!

Hi Joey. I'm really impressed what you are doing. Not many football players aren't afraid or something to talk about hard topics. Keep it up Joey.

Anyone who calls Joey Barton a 'thug' has to watch this, it shows something completely different. Emotional video, good to hear the opinions of the witnesses. It's good to see you keeping it in the spotlight. JFT96!

Its brilliant that you are keeping the justice campaign in the spotlight and also the memory of the 96 fresh in the minds of all who watched those tragic events on that awful day. I was 17 at the time and watched it on TV, it affected me so much that day and ive followed the campaign for the last 23 years. Its a shame that there arn't many others footballers like yourself who could push this campaign  forward. I think you are doing a brilliant job Joey.
