Poll: Favourite Xmas gifts growing up

As a kid, there’s nothing quite like the tingling excitement experienced Christmas eve, whilst it can be a little nerve-racking too – will I get the toy I’ve so longed for!? But, I must admit I was always grateful of the gifts and toys I received as a kid, we weren’t exactly flush, but my family always made it special. So with Cassius approaching his first christmas, it triggered some thought about gifts I’d received, and subsequently hadn’t.

What were the greatest christmas toys during my childhood…what toys stood out for you and what toys could you just not be separated from? Vote for your favourite below and if I’ve missed any, be sure to let me know.

What was your favourite Xmas gift growing up?

Joey,

Judging by your childish behaviour whenever you enter a football pitch, is it safe to assume that you never recieved any gifts at all when you grew up...? Or at least you were given the incorrect gifts, like dolls and/or a blue fire machine...?

My favourite present was a Football Goal, We put it out in the garden and me and my brother played football all day with the old man in goal! Was pissing it down and muddy as hell but we was aloud to play out there anyway! Call in for baths as dinner was ready! Was a brilliant day and a class present! Top memories! Merry Xmas to you Joey! Have a good one!

My toys were always things that came ready built or as good as because my dad just wanted to watch Morecambe and Wise with a glass of whisky after xmas dinner. Meccano or Lego sets were a no-no as the old boy's intellectual capacity would diminish as the evening wore on.

If I were you get the wee fella a cardboard box, he will be as happy as Larry with that.

For me it was the Castle Grayskull and Skeletor from the Masters of the Universe.  I already had He-man (Musclor in French) and Gringer his battle tiger. That was awesome, you just made me remember that Joey, so that’s what I voted for. Concerning football, hopefully you’re gonna be our captain soon, and most of all, I HOPE YOU’LL STAY AT L’OM IN JUNE!!!!! Don’t go back to QPR!!!

Mine was probably a tie between Buckaroo, even though it frightened the life of me every time it bucked, and Operation, which also frightened the life out of me when the buzzer went off. When my daughter was young I bought her all the same toys that I'd had, I couldn't help myself. :)

Joey, can't go wrong with Lego... Try to get one of the sets that let the imagination roam wild.  He can build and create.  Merry Christmas to you and your family !! Allez l'OM !!

Well Joey, anything you can give to your kids will be an awesome gift from an amazing dad. A Football, for me, is the best gift you can give to your kids. Greetings from Colombia, true legend.

Hard to choose between scaletrix, megadrive and subbutteo, I loved the 3s but my sweetest moment was  while opening the box of the megadrive :) So that's it ! :D
